...(especially a second-year student) when you find that you have no time to post to a blog that you created only because you had so much time on your hands in the first place.
...when you begin to miss the seemingly endless, and ever more dreamlike hours to kill in which you sat in the hall, ate Funyuns, and posted at least once a day on your blog that you have only because you were bored during work.
...when you find that your favorite pair of pants (which is usually your ONLY pair) has finally gone through the wash after being worn two or more consecutive times, which means that now you can wear them again for two or more consecutive times.
...when you spend most of your waking hours at school. (And, in my case, work does count; I am on campus from around 7:15 a.m. to at least 3:30 p.m, sometimes longer. That chunk of time right there already takes up more hours than I sleep at night, and I'm usually still "at school" when I'm at home... homework never sleeps.)
...when a sandwich from the Bookstore tastes like the best meal you've ever eaten.
...when you fear that the world's forests are about to disappear from your doing alone, what with all the papers you have to write and the Kleenex you have to use. (Just FYI, I haven't gotten sick yet, but it's only a matter of time.)
...when you started this post two weeks ago and it still hasn't been finished.

Work is funny... especially today
It's the day before Pioneer Day and you'd think that I wouldn't be super-busy because everyone is out preparing for holiday festivities. And you'd be right. Except, of course, for the fact that when one person calls with a problem, that means EVERYBODY starts calling at the EXACT SAME TIME.
I am not joking. It was dead silent for about an hour and then all of a sudden, the phone started ringing. I picked up the phone and it started ringing on the other lines as well. And you've got to understand something about my work phone. If someone calls you in the middle of another call, you can't just transfer the person already on the phone whenever you please and THEN pick up the other line... you have to answer the other line(s) first. And if you've got, say, five other calls on the line, you forget where you need to transfer people and they end up waiting for a ridiculously long time to talk to whomever it was they needed to talk to. (Although we do have really cool hold music. I think it's the MoTab singing "Love at Home." Maybe the pretty music is supposed to have a calming effect on the callers. You never know.)
Man. Crazy stuff.

Life in Provo
To anyone who doesn't know, I'm living with my sister in Provo while her husband is off conquering llamas in Peru. (Or at least the law, if not llamas.)
So far it's been fun. A little stressful, perhaps (what with me having to wake up at 5:00 in the morning in order to catch the bus that will get me to work in SLC on time), but fun nevertheless. There's not a whole lot to DO in Provo if you're in Salt Lake for most of the day, but so far we have managed to find the time to go shopping twice (and come away with some dang-cute things) and watch several movies in order to expand my cinematic horizon. (We've watched Treasure Planet and Jurassic Park. Oh so great movies.) We have also gotten dinner at a great place called Zupa's. They have excellent soup and sandwiches there. Seriously, I'm not a soup person, but this place makes me want soup.
Well, that's about it so far. Between work, bus rides, and sleep, I've managed to squeeze in a few hours of Provo living. Rock, rock on.

Life Comes At You Fast
So much has happened since I last posted. And not all of it is fun.
For those of you who don't know, the CGF and I are no longer together. Here's what happened, if you really want to know. (*WARNING!* Reader Discretion Advised. Deep, Dark Secrets coming up. Not really. It's just kind of sappy. And awkward.)
Our ward was kinda scheduled to go do Baptisms for the Dead on Saturday morning, and the CGF was going to come pick me up. He got to my house, but his tire was flat so I had to drive Mom's car. We got to the Temple and no one from our ward was there, and there was this HUGE youth group in front of us and neither of us really wanted to wait that long to do Baptisms, so we went walking around the Square. Now, he and I had been talking before about our relationship and where it was going. He was sure that he liked me, even loved me, but I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about him. I mean, I liked him, but I got the feeling that he liked me a whole lot more than I liked him and I wasn't starting to like him any more than I already did. I did a lot of thinking and praying about it, I decided that it was time to end the relationship (I didn't want to do it, because I'd had such a good time with him. We could talk to each other and he liked me the way I am and I was grateful for that, but I felt like it was what I had to do.) We can still be friends, but I don't see us as anything more than that. I feel bad because the CGF told me that he thought I was the right girl for him, but I just didn't feel like he was the right guy for me. Weird, huh? I just hope he doesn't have too hard a time forgiving me and letting go. And the other weird feeling is that even though he may not think it's the right thing, I do think it's the right thing, and I haven't cried about it or thought about taking it back and going back to him.
On a lighter note, I am going to live with my sister for the next month and a half, and I just have to say that I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! It'll be a little inconvenient living in Provo and working in Salt Lake, but I think it will be a great experience. I can barely contain my glee (as you may have already noticed.)
Well, gotta go. I'm at work right now and it is rather busy, surprisingly. That may not be the case later on today, but we'll see.

What to post...
Here I am, sitting at work with nothing in particular to do. This job is still in the "halfway between merging jobs" stage. Meaning that there isn't a whole lot for me to do with the phone operating and the same goes for the helpdesk. Grr.
So it's my birthday party tonight. And I keep forgetting that it's my birthday tomorrow. It really hasn't felt like June mainly because the weather hasn't decided if it's spring or winter and also because I am actually going back to school (or work, if you want to get technical, but since I work at my school, it feels like school) for my birthday as opposed to getting out of school.
Well, anywhoo, I gotta "get back to work." Heh. Riiiiight.

F.Y.I.
I am risking much googly-eyes and "ooooooOOOOOOOOooooooos" from my sisters by writing this part of my post, but I figure I should just get on with it.
As most, if not all, of you may know, I have been seeing a Certain Gentleman Friend quite frequently. So yes, you could consider us to be "dating." And just so my sisters can stop asking me every time I talk to them (I love you guys!!): Yes, I do like this Certain Gentleman Friend. Quite a bit, actually. And I think it's safe to say that I'm pretty dang sure he likes me quite a bit too.
There. I said it. I am internally bracing myself for a flood of gushing and giggling that I know will ensue once my sisters read this post. Heh. Still love you guys!!! :)
In other news, I had my first day of work yesterday, and lemme tell you... it was not what I was expecting. I got to work about half an hour early (7:30) and sat around on the 9th floor (which is where the Helpdesk is) until about 8:10. Then my boss showed up and said that a lady on the 2nd floor was waiting to train me as a phone operator. I went downstairs, thoroughly confused. I got trained until I was overloaded with information (so, for about 15 minutes) and then I sat there listening to my iPod for an hour before my boss came down to explain what was going on. It turns out that the Helpdesk is moving from the 9th floor to the 2nd floor, and that it (the Helpdesk) and the Phone Operator departments are sorta merging into one. Confusing, I know. And I also found out that my job is very, very part time. (Like, from 1:00-3:00 every day or mostly every day until fall semester starts.) Oh well. At least it's something.
So yeah, that's my life right now.

So get this...
So... today is the last official day of school! (For me, at least.) Yes, I know classes ended yesterday, but I still had to come in to work today.
Only there was this little problem. Graduation Commencement was scheduled for today at 2:00 in the afternoon, and the Institute Choir (which I am in) was obligated to sing for Commencement. So I had to be there. Here's the problem: my work shift started AT 2:00 PM!!! Figure THAT one out.
Miscommunication. That's all it comes down to.
Now, I have known about Graduation for weeks. My choir teacher has stressed the importance of our being there many times, so I knew that I couldn't miss it (even though I wasn't exactly thrilled with the prospect of being there.) What I DIDN'T know was that I was expected to work that day. (My boss never told me and I didn't think to ask... I thought that the college would be closed completely after the semester ended. That's a nope.) Anyway, I was expected to be in two places at once, and I was going crazy. (I'm talking about last night, by the way.)
So I emailed my boss saying that there might be a problem with me getting to work on time, and I told him why. He emailed me back this morning and said that it was okay, I could come into work when I could. (Just as long as I came.) So... I feel a little bit better.
What I feel really bad, angry, annoyed, and upset about is the fact that I was under the delusion that Graduation started at 1:00 or 1:30. And I told my boss so. But I was mistaken. (The choir was told to meet at the Assembly Hall at noon. I thought, "Oh, we probably only need half an hour to rehearse and then half an hour for lunch, so I guess that means we start around 1:00 or 1:30." Again with the nope.)
What I'm really trying to say is: I WAS TWO HOURS LATE FOR WORK BECAUSE SOMEONE HAD TO SCHEDULE GRADUATION FOR THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIME EVER!!!

Absolute Frustration
Arrrrrgggghhhh! (No, I'm not a pirate.)
I just got an email from my boss saying that he wouldn't need ANY lab assistants over the summer break (from April until June.) He seemed sincerely sorry about it, but this is bad, bad timing. Since I wasn't going to be working in the lab much over the break, I wasn't as upset as I could have been, but it is still highly annoying.
Here's the deal: For the past few weeks, my boss has been telling all of us lab assistants (or "labbies") that he didn't need all of us to work during the summer break or else we would use up all of the budget. That made sense to me, and since I live at home and don't need to pay for rent or food, I decided to step aside and let other people have first priority. None of us (including my boss) really knew what was going on... we didn't know how many "not all of us" would be, and what we would be doing and if there really was anything to do. Not a great situation.
Then, in our most recent meeting, my boss informed us that he didn't think the computer lab would even be open during the summer break. (Brief moment of panic for all of us.) He lessened the blow when he said that instead of having one person work in the lab like he originally thought he would, he would have one person work in the library... you know, keep all the computers in there under control. (Ok. It sounds ok so far... maybe I can work once or twice every other week...)
Then, today, the LAST DAY OF CLASSES, he sends out this email saying that "Never mind, I really don't need any of you to work during the break." Grrr. Perducci!
This means that I REALLY have to look for a job now. One that can keep me occupied for about 2 months. And I REALLY hate job hunting. Really. Hate. It. It took me two to three months to find the job that I have now, so by the time I get a job, I'll have to quit it to go back to work in the lab. Not. Cool.
So double and triple grr over here.

Slightly Guilty
*sob* I confess! I did it! I BROKE THE COLOR PRINTER IN THE LAB ON CAMPUS!
No, I didn't REALLY break it, but I feel responsible...
I was working late last night, and some lady came up and asked me which tray the color printer printed from. I said I didn't know for sure, but we both figured it was the top one... seeing as how the bottom one didn't have any paper in it. This lady had a piece of very glossy paper in her hand, and I should have guessed what was going to happen right then and there. But I was kind of out of it (working for six consecutive hours can do that to you), and I thought that the glossy piece of paper was just glossy, and not twenty times thicker than the normal paper used in the color printer.
Much to my consternation, however, a few minutes later the color printer made this horrendous noise that could be heard by all in the computer lab (and which one person said sounded like "someone blowing their nose") and then the printer became deathly quiet and refused to print anything else. I pulled up the trusty computer software that lets me see how things are going in the labs and it told me what I already feared... that there was a jam in the output bin. (Great. Just great.)
Now, the printers in the main computer lab sit on a high table which makes them almost impossible to reach for a person just barely topping five feet. Especially this color printer. Getting to the output bin was beyond my capacity, so I just sat for the last twenty minutes of my shift trying to pacify the concerned users who were attempting to print from the color printer. *Sigh*
But other than that, I'm okay. School is almost over, and I am overjoyed. (Now all I have to do is figure out what I'm going to do over the summer. Heh.) :)

Grr and more grr
By "Grr" I mean that I am rather put out and am about to go insane.
Well, not today, maybe, but on other days at this time I have to exercise all of my self-control so as not to pull my hair out.
I work in the computer lab on my college campus, and no, it is not the most glamorous job in the world. But for me and my still-living-at-home situation, it is just about right. (Thanks to my brother-in-law for hooking me up with it!) It was just about right, that is, until I got landed with a 6 hour shift and my boss implemented the "Don't play games or watch TV shows or cartoons or things like that" rule. Now, I'm a big girl, so I won't break down and cry, but when you have to sit for 6 hours in a rather small computer lab, and you can't relieve the boredom with a few of your favorite TGS episodes, it starts getting to you.
Yes, and I know that there are people out there (myself included, occasionally) who will say, "You have to know where your boss is coming from. He sets the rules (he's your boss) and you should honor those rules. Try finding something else to do." Well, it's hard finding something else to do when you've already read every book that you own at least once, your homework is most-if-not-all done, and ALMOST EVERY FREAKING WEBSITE IS BLOCKED.
Once again: Grr.
